Biohazard and Trauma Cleanup in Kings Mills, Maineville and Hamilton Township

Warren County, Ohio

Kings Mills and Maineville sit on opposite sides of the Little Miami River and answer to different police agencies, but cleanup works the same in both. I-71, the 3C Highway and the river between

Kings Mills sits along I-71 about twenty miles northeast of Cincinnati, which makes it easy for a crew to reach. On the east bank, US 22 and State Route 3, known together as the 3C Highway, run through Hamilton Township, and State Route 48 links Maineville with Loveland and Lebanon.

The Little Miami River separates the two areas, and the old Little Miami Railroad line through the township is now trail. On busy Kings Island days, traffic near the park and the I-71 interchange can slow the trip into Kings Mills, so the provider may plan around it.

Sheriff's deputies on one side, township police on the other

Deerfield Township, including Kings Mills, is patrolled by the Warren County Sheriff's Office through its Deerfield Township post. Hamilton Township runs its own police department, based on State Route 48 near Maineville, and has been described as the first accredited Ohio law enforcement agency in Warren County.

Maineville village has relied on Hamilton Township police in the past, but in late 2024 the township announced it would end that service over a dispute about a joint economic district, with the sheriff named as the fallback. For any address, call 911 and let dispatch send the right agency.

Sudden or unexplained deaths go to the Warren County Coroner, an elected physician whose office sits with the county offices on Justice Drive in Lebanon. The coroner's office and the deputies or township officers investigate; they do not clean, and the home returns to its owner, landlord or executor when they are done.

Mill houses, village homes and newer subdivisions

The housing here spans more than a century. Kings Mills grew up around the cartridge and powder works, Maineville has a village center laid out in the 1800s, and Hamilton Township has filled in with subdivisions on former farmland off State Route 48 and the 3C Highway.

Older Kings Mills homes can have plaster, old wood floors and tight basements; newer Hamilton Township houses usually mean carpet, drywall, and ductwork that can spread odor between floors. Tell the provider the age of the house so they can plan what may need to be removed.

Next steps for families and landlords here

Gather the sheriff's or Hamilton Township police report number and call the insurer. Homeowner coverage often helps with biohazard cleanup, though each Kings Mills or Maineville policy has its own limits. Renters should know their policy protects belongings; the building is the landlord's side.

A crime-related scene may also qualify an eligible victim for up to $750 in cleaning costs from the Ohio Attorney General's compensation fund (614-466-5610). Keep receipts from the Maineville or Kings Mills job, and ask the provider for an itemized invoice that program staff can read easily.

A powder town and a village named for Maine

Kings Mills began in 1884 as a company town for the King Powder Company and the Peters Cartridge Company, on the west bank of the Little Miami River in the northeast corner of Deerfield Township. The plants closed by 1944. The census-designated place had 1,336 residents in 2020.

Across the river, Maineville was incorporated on March 23, 1850. Many of its first settlers came from Phillips, Maine, which gave the village its name, and a post office opened there in 1854. It is the village center of Hamilton Township, which counted 30,587 people in 2020.
