Two counties, one partly covered

Be clear about the map first. In Clermont County, only the Loveland 45140 and Goshen 45122 delivery areas are part of this line. Calls about property in Batavia, Milford, Amelia, Union Township, New Richmond or Bethel cannot be placed with a provider through this number.

Brown County is covered from edge to edge. It was carved out of Adams and Clermont counties on March 1, 1818, named for Major General Jacob Brown of the War of 1812, and counted 43,676 residents in 2020. Georgetown is the county seat.

Clermont, with 208,601 people in 2020 and its seat at Batavia, is far more suburban toward Cincinnati. Its covered pieces sit on its northern edge: Loveland along the Little Miami River and Goshen Township out along State Route 28.

Farm country, river villages and lake communities

Most of Brown County is rolling farmland broken by small villages. Housing runs from 1800s brick and frame homes around the Georgetown courthouse square to farmhouses, newer ranch homes near Mount Orab, and riverfront buildings in Ripley and Aberdeen along the Ohio River.

Creeks drain the county south toward the Ohio: White Oak Creek, Straight Creek and Eagle Creek. The East Fork of the Little Miami bends past Fayetteville in the north, and Lake Waynoka near Sardinia is a gated lake community built by damming the headwaters of Straight Creek beginning in 1970.

Goshen Township in Clermont is a mix of older homes near the State Route 28 corridor and subdivisions on former farm ground. Loveland has its own page because of its historic downtown and three-county layout.

The Brown and Clermont coroner offices

Each county elects a physician as coroner under Ohio law. The Brown County Coroner's office is at 800 Mt. Orab Pike, Suite 161, in Georgetown. Its own page describes the job as investigating deaths by criminal or violent means and sudden deaths of young children, determining cause and manner, and signing off on death certificates for deaths that are not natural.

Clermont County has its own elected coroner, a separate office from Brown's, and it handles deaths in Goshen Township and on the Clermont side of Loveland. That office's FAQ notes that release to a funeral home usually takes no more than a day or two once the next of kin signs the release form.

Neither the Georgetown office nor its Clermont counterpart cleans the home afterward. When the scene is released, the owner or estate decides who comes in, and that is where this line fits.

Who responds, village by village

In Brown County, Georgetown, Mount Orab and Ripley each have a village police department, and non-emergency calls across the county run through the Brown County Communications Center. Smaller villages and the townships rely on the Brown County Sheriff's Office, based in Georgetown.

On the Clermont side, the Goshen Township Police Department works from Goshen Road and covers a 34-square-mile township of about 16,000 people. Loveland has its own Loveland Police Division. A 911 call from either place reaches the right agency.

Brown County and Goshen ZIPs without their own page

Georgetown, Mount Orab, Ripley and Loveland each have a full page. Six more ZIPs are covered from this hub. Aberdeen (45101) is a Huntington Township village of 1,515 on the Ohio River, tied to Maysville, Kentucky, by the Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge and the William H. Harsha Bridge; the Kentucky side is not served.

Fayetteville (45118) is a Perry Township village of 317 on a bend of the East Fork, with US 50 running through as Pike Street. Its postal list also names Marathon, but Marathon sits in Clermont's Jackson Township, outside the two Clermont ZIPs this line covers. Goshen (45122) covers Goshen Township in Clermont, centered where State Routes 28, 48 and 132 overlap between Milford and Blanchester.

Hamersville (45130) is a Clark Township village of 485 on State Route 125, laid out in 1838 and named for Congressman Thomas Hamer; its postal list also takes in Poetown. Russellville (45168), with 542 residents in Jefferson Township, sits where State Route 125 meets US 62.

Sardinia (45171) has 1,083 people, mostly in Brown County's Washington Township, and the ZIP also reaches Lake Waynoka, a lake community of 1,381 between Sardinia and Russellville. Buford appears on the same postal list but lies in Highland County's Clay Township, which is not in this line's Highland coverage.

What rural callers should expect

Distances in Brown County are real. A farmhouse off US 68 north of Georgetown or a home on a ridge road above Eagle Creek can take a while to reach, so the provider will want directions, gate codes for places like Lake Waynoka, and a description of any barns or outbuildings.

Homeowner policies often help with biohazard cleanup in Brown and Clermont alike, though it comes down to the policy wording. If a crime was involved, eligible victims may claim up to $750 in reasonable scene-cleaning costs through Ohio Attorney General Crime Victim Services at 800-282-0515. When someone has died by suicide, relatives in Sardinia, Goshen or Aberdeen can phone or text 988 to talk with a crisis counselor at any hour.

Questions about Clermont & Brown Counties

Does this line cover Milford, Batavia or Amelia?
No. In Clermont County the line covers only Loveland (45140) and Goshen (45122). The rest of the county, Milford, Batavia, Amelia, Union Township, New Richmond and Bethel included, falls beyond what this number handles. All of neighboring Brown County is covered, including Georgetown, Mount Orab, Ripley, Sardinia and Aberdeen.
Where is the Brown County Coroner's office?
Brown County's coroner keeps an office in Georgetown, Suite 161 at 800 Mt. Orab Pike. The coroner is an elected physician who investigates violent, suspicious and certain sudden deaths. The office does not clean homes; after release, the household decides who comes in to do that work.
Can a crew reach a farm or lake home in rural Brown County?
Yes, Brown County is fully covered, including farm properties and gated communities such as Lake Waynoka near Sardinia. Travel on two-lane roads like US 68 and State Route 125 takes time, so give clear directions, gate access details and a list of any outbuildings when you call (513) 962-0944.
Is Aberdeen covered, and what about Maysville across the bridge?
Aberdeen (45101) on the Ohio side is covered. Maysville and the rest of Kentucky are not, even though the Simon Kenton Memorial Bridge and William H. Harsha Bridge connect the two towns. Properties in Northern Kentucky are outside this referral line's area.
